The 2025 edition of The CEO Cycle Challenge, presented by the South African Hall of Fame in collaboration with Nashua, wrapped up with impressive results that reflect the commitment, collaboration, and social impact driving the challenge.
In just its second year, The CEO Cycle Challenge saw a women’s team step onto the starting line for the first time, and finish as champions! Sponsored by Medihelp Medical Scheme, Team Vanes-Mari topped the leaderboard for total distance cycled, with Karla Pretorius delivering the highest individual distance of the event.
Final Cycling Results
Team Vanes-Mari led by Vanes-Mari du Toit delivered an outstanding performance, clocking a total of 385.66 km, securing the top team position for 2025.
Teammate Karla Pretorius, cycled an exceptional 89.35 km, the highest individual distance recorded in the entire event.
Team John, captained by John Smit, finished second with 285.08 km, with Smit himself contributing a total 84.61 km.
Team Lucas, led by Lucas Radebe, completed the challenge with 181.96 km, with teammate Allan Nossel recording the highest distance for his team at 23.48 km.
Fundraising Impact
While The CEO Cycle Challenge brought the competition out of the boardroom and into the fishbowl, its most meaningful victory happened off the bike – raising funds for the South African Hall of Fame’s Legacy Project.
At the heart of the challenge is a mission to empower talented children with limited resources – young South Africans who show extraordinary promise but lack access to the tools, support, and opportunities they need to thrive.
This year’s CEO Cycle Challenge also expanded its fundraising efforts through the GivenGain platform, a new tool that allowed teams to raise support from a wider community beyond the event itself.
Thanks to the commitment and generosity of every participating team and their supporters, this additional fundraising challenge introduced an exciting new layer of competition. Like all great contests, it ended with a podium finish, with honours going to the following three teams:
1. Nashua claimed the top position.
2. Team John Smit in second.
3. Medihelp Medical Scheme placed third.
Every contribution made through this challenge brings us closer to the Legacy Project’s bold vision: to unlock the potential of 1,000 talented children across South Africa – giving them not just hope, but a future filled with possibility.
