From classrooms to sports fields to choir stands, our Legacy Project bursary students continue to shine, proving once again what’s possible when talented children are given the opportunity to thrive.
And in 2025, they’ve already achieved plenty!
Meaningful Achievement
The first three terms of the year have brought a steady stream of good news, with students making their mark in academics, sport, and culture.
Academic Highlights
Thirty bursary students achieved an impressive 288 distinctions across subjects. This achievement is particularly noteworthy given the high academic standards and rigorous requirements of Pretoria Boys High School. What makes it even more remarkable is that these results were earned by learners from a wide range of socio-economic and educational backgrounds.
Their success speaks volumes about their dedication, hard work, and the strong support network that surrounds them.
Sporting Success
Sport remains a powerful platform for growth, leadership, and pride and our students are seizing every opportunity:
- Rugby
- The u/14A team includes 11 bursary players – 10 in the starting lineup – with one selected for provincial colours.
- On the u/15A team, 9 bursary students are playing, 4 of whom have also earned provincial representation.
- Cricket
- Five students are competing at u/14A and u/15A level, with one selected to represent the Titans U/15 Regional Team at provincial level.
- Soccer
- Three bursary learners feature in the u/14A team.
- Basketball
- One bursary student represents the u/14A side.
- Athletics
- Twelve bursary students represented the school in athletics this term, with three earning provincial colours. These three went on to compete at the ASA U16–U23 National Championships, where they collectively won six medals.
- One student competed at the 2025 Toyota SASAPD Nationals, where he holds the South African u/17 record in both the 100m and 200m (T61 class).
- Hockey
- One student plays for the u/16A team and was selected to represent the u/16 Northerns provincial team.
Culture and Community
Beyond the sports fields, our students continue to enrich the cultural life of their school. Four bursary learners are active members of the school choir.
What These Achievements Represent
The numbers are encouraging, but it’s the stories behind them that truly matter. Each achievement is a reminder of what happens when a young person is seen, supported, and given the chance to succeed.
The Legacy Project offers more than financial assistance. It provides stability, mentorship, and belief, the ingredients that help young people push through difficulty, show up consistently, and strive for more.
When one student thrives, the benefits extend to their families, peers, and communities. That’s the ripple effect we aim to create.
