Born in Randfonteinon 26 February 1952, Patrick “Ace” Ntsoelengoe became one of South African football’s most iconic figures. Ace is a true Kaizer Chiefs legend, beloved for his brilliance on the field and his dedication to the game. Ace, known for his creativity, vision, and technical skills was a key figure at the club from the 1970s to the 1980s, his skill and leadership helped shape Chiefs’ golden era. He remains the club’s all-time top scorer with 240 goals, a record that has stood for decades. Ace’s finest season came in 1974, when he led Chiefs to their first league title, scoring 42 goals across all competitions. His talent in the Soweto Derby is legendary, with Ace still holding the record for the most goals scored, unlikely to ever be beaten. Though his career took him abroad to play in the North American SoccerLeague, Ace’s heart always remained with Kaizer Chiefs, where his impact was felt deeply by fans. He passed away in 2006, but his legacy continues to inspire. In 2024, Ace was posthumously inducted into the South African Hall of Fame, an honor that was proudly accepted by his two daughters.
