Coming Home to What Matters

Carina Groothof, Marketing Practitioner at Medihelp

For many of us, the end of the year brings a shift in rhythm. Work slows down, school gates close, and families gather in big and small ways. Whether you’re packing a suitcase, setting the table, or just taking a moment to breathe, December is about coming home. Home is more than a place. It’s a feeling. It’s where you feel safe. It’s where you are known. It’s where hope grows.

A Season for Reflection and Connection

Our partner, Medihelp Medical Scheme, has long embraced the idea that health and wellbeing go beyond medical care. True wellness is found in belonging, in feeling supported, and in knowing you’re not alone on your journey. This season reflects those values more than any other. That’s why we’re celebrating the Home Body in all of us, the part that longs for closeness, care, and the comfort of shared moments.

As we think about what it means to come home, whether to a place, a person, or a tradition, we’re reminded that wellness is often rooted in these quiet, familiar moments. It’s in the conversations around the table, the shared laughter in the kitchen, or the simple act of being together. It’s a reminder that the end of the year is not just a break, but a return to what truly matters.

For Carina Groothof, Marketing Practitioner at Medihelp, December is a time for Home Bodies, she shared what the idea of home means to her at this time of year:

“Home is where I’m surrounded by the people and pets I love. It’s a place full of fond memories and where I always feel like everything will be okay. A broader community of support – something Medihelp values!”

“Our family loves spending time outdoors over the holidays, whether it’s long walks with the dogs or relaxing afternoons by the pool. Fresh air and time outside help us reset and recharge for the new year.”

Her reflection is a reminder that wellness can be found in the simplest rituals, especially those that allow us to slow down, reconnect, and restore.
